For Parents

Can our school collaborate?

Yes! If your preschool/elementary school would like to collaborate please contact our lab manager, Barbara Perez, for more information: or call (858) 246-2293

We conduct both observational and experimental studies at schools. Only children whose parents have signed a consent form and who feel comfortable participating at the time of the study will be included.

What kinds of studies do you do?

We usually test children from 3-7 years old. The kind of study that your child would participate in would depend on their age. However, all of our studies are either observational studies that focus on naturalistic interaction between children and their peers, or experimental tests that resemble fun games for children to play. Parents are always welcome to observe their children in the lab, are welcome to a copy of any video footage of the experiment their children participated in.

Can I bring my other children?

Because CCL often has many studies going on at once, we may have a study for each of your children to participate in. Please let us know if you are interested in more than one child participating in a study. If there is no study for your other children to participate in, we will provide toys to keep your other children entertained while they wait.

How long will I need to be there?

The length of studies will vary. We will always let you know ahead of time approximately how much time testing should take.

Is there anything else I need to know?

We will always provide you with more details about the study prior to your visit.
